The story continued from yesterday.
I already know that they eventually found my 2013 file and that they hold MDT meetings on Friday afternoons. Someone called during the meeting to check that I started taking the 28 day course of special tablets on Sunday. I explain why this got delayed until Wednesday. They will call back.
The phone rings again. The lady seems to be hesitating about saying something. I'll help you out here I said. I've been looking at a calendar. Is it perhaps that I won't have finished the course of special tablets in time for the surgery and biopsy on Sept 30th? Yes, she gratefully replies. However if we wait a week longer then there is an available appointment at a hospital much closer to your home. So October 7th it is.
I now have to work out how to communicate this information to H in a way that doesn't either end up with him getting more worried about me, or worst still end up in a rant about the state of the NHS which turns into us having one of our frequent rows about politics. I remember a course I took at work years ago about the best way to hide something negative, find lots of positive things to say and slip the negative thing in the middle.
Fortunately it worked so well that H now thinks the delay is a good thing!
