So what tennis matches shall I watch today?

1 minute read time.

Well where do I start?  Better explain why I'm doing this blog first I think.  I did quite a bit of blogging during my cancer treatment in 2013.  Found it a great way to take my mind off things.  I need some daily distracting now as I'm waiting for some dental treatment which isn't going to be at all straightforward with my medical history.  I have to admit to being pretty frightened....

Bit of background as to what's happening.  Had 7 weeks of radiotherapy in 2013, mainly focused on left side of jaw.  Teeth extraction can be dangerous after that. Possibility of a nasty condition called ORN developing. Something to be avoided unless essential.  I've now got a tooth abscess and the only remedy is to remove two teeth from the very area I had most of the radiotherapy on.  So it will be done at the hospital.

It's been a busy day.  Phone appointment with the GP, then up to see the Nurse at the Surgery for a general health check and tests before the dental treatment starts.  All was good.  Then onto the Dentist to finalise the paperwork for the hospital referral.  Lots of questions to answer.  Lastly to the local Diagnostic Centre for a facial Xray.  There may have to be a CT scan, they will let me know.  Now it's a 2 week wait for the hospital appointment.

So what will today's distraction be?  Well as I'm a tennis fan there is no better place than the US Open.  My favourite player Joao Fonseca unfortunately got knocked out last night.  However there are still plenty of good matches to watch.  Think I'll start with Hailey Baptiste v Naomi Osaka.  I didn't see Osaka's last match but plenty of my tennis friends were commenting on her new bright orange frock.  So I will have to look out for that.  I'm told if she's wearing it then it will be impossible to miss!
