I got a new feeding tube today. I suspected it may be on the way after the nurse mentioned a possible fungal infection last week, and I had to get the swabs done. I'd not had any control over my feeding when I was in intensive care. It was only when I eventually got onto the hospital ward, and started syringe feeding myself, that I noticed the tube was quite blocked. I thought it was just debris from the liquid energy drinks where the tube hadn't been properly flushed with water. It was getting harder and harder to use it though, and I was having to dilute all the bottles before I could get anything down, which was time consuming and messy.
The nurse installed the new tube at home, and one advantage of cancer treatment second time round was that I'd had this done before and knew it didn't hurt. It has certainly made feeding quicker, I can really see the difference.
H has been busy on the phone on my behalf speaking to the GP and the pharmacy to sort out a prescription the feeding tube nurse wants me to have. Think it's tablets and cream for the fungal infection. She said she may have to change the tube yet again when I've finished this course of treatment, but it's no bother if she does.
H and I have had a minor disagreement about what counts as cheating. I don't look up the answers at the back of my puzzle books, yes that is definitely cheating. However what I have found is my late mother's crossword solving calculator type gadget. Personally I don't think that's cheating. All I'm doing is looking for inspiration for words that might fit, I'm not actually looking up the answers. H reckons it's cheating though. Anyone out there on my side?
