More planning news

1 minute read time.

Another busy day.  Up early for my flu jab appointment and then on for some supermarket shopping.  H is slowly improving from his prostate biopsy.  He's a bit less uncomfortable today.  He was OK driving for our short car trip, but I think it'll still be several days before he can ride his bicycle again.

Then it was home before the daily phone calls and SMS messages started arriving.  The hospital continues to be busy with my treatment planning.  First I heard from the Dietician to say that my first consignment of nutrient shakes will be delivered soon.  These are samples of the various brands and flavours available.  The bottles are for me to drink, and for use in the feeding tube that I'm getting on the 24th November.  I'm to say which ones I find easiest to drink and those will be regularly supplied on prescription.

Then I heard from the MRI department at Nottingham.  I've already had an MRI scan as part of my diagnostic procedure.  However they now need more detailed MRI scans to plan my surgery, and these need to be done on a special MRI scanner.  The nearest one is in Nottingham.  I knew I was having an MRI scan when I go to Nottingham next Friday, but I need a second one done as well.  They explained that it's not possible to do it all in one go, something to do with how long you can have contrast in for.  I wouldn't fancy 2 hours in an MRI scanner anyway, so they have booked me an appointment on Tuesday 18th November to get the other MRI scan done.  So then it was the usual wait in the call centre queue to get my hospital transport booked. Fortunately no problem with the booking, their computer seems to know now that I'm authorised to go to Nottingham.

I'll be seeing a variety of people at Nottingham next Friday.  I've already got appointments with the Speech & Language Team (SALT), the Anaesthetist, and the MRI dept.  There will be more to come.  Sounds like that'll be a busy morning chasing around.

Hopefully we can now manage a quiet and relaxing weekend.
