More delays

1 minute read time.

The hospital phoned this morning to say my operation and biopsy on Oct 7th is cancelled because the surgeon has to take emergency leave next week.  The suggested alternative date is Oct 28th, will this be acceptable?  I politely but extremely firmly told them that it would not be.  I told them they have already cancelled my surgery from the original date of Sept 30th, that I've been to A&E three times now, and that every day it's getting harder to fully open my mouth and to eat properly.  I also pointed out that there is a suspicion of cancer so I refuse to wait a further 3 weeks.   I asked if this operation can be done at a private hospital but apparently it can not.  Finally I offered to travel to any hospital within a 100 mile radius, but there was not a single appointment anywhere.

I never give in though.  Several phone calls later they finally find me an emergency appointment at 9am on Wednesday 8th Oct.  I'm feeling exhausted at having to fight the system all the time.

What is annoying me as well is that I've now discovered that MaxFac do a casualty clinic at the hospital, 365 days a year, and that my dentist could have booked me a next day appointment when he first saw me on  August 21st.   I call him my dentist, he won't be for much longer.  The dental surgery have just sent me a leaflet for dental implants, presumably they think it'll be perfectly safe for me to have them screwed into my jaw to replace the missing teeth!

I have had several recommendations for a private dental practice in town.  When I finally get myself sorted out I will go and check it out.

H is very grumpy today.  On one of our recent hospital visits he managed to get caught by a speed camera.  First time ever.  Doing 35mph in a 30mph zone.
