You know that old saying that it never rains but it pours? Or perhaps trouble always comes in threes? H and I are not having a good week.
H went for his annual routine check up at the doctors surgery last Monday. He's always healthy and he came back saying they were very pleased with him. We thought no more about it until the phone rang yesterday with the news that there is a problem with his blood test results. They wouldn't say what it was over the phone, but we were able to log into H's records on the surgery website. There we discovered that his PSA is abnormally high. He's had it checked before so we have an idea of what it usually is. It's now three times higher. Anyway they have booked him an appointment with the GP on Monday morning to discuss further.
H's dad has been poorly in hospital for a while but we thought he was responding to treatment. We now get the news that the treatment isn't working and it's palliative care only from now on.
Then there's my ongoing situation. I got a call from the hospital yesterday to say that my biopsy results are back. I have an appointment Tuesday and I'm seeing a new consultant, and I'm being transferred from Maxfac to ENT. I've looked the consultant up and he's the clinical lead for head and neck cancer. There's no doubt in my mind what they are going to say.
H and I are trying to cheer each other up. We are determined to have a nice weekend but so far it's not going well. We switched the central heating on last night and two of the radiators aren't working. My printer is playing up too. So we've wasted all the morning trying to sort that out. I finally have a working printer but we still have two cold radiators.
A bottle of wine is chilling in the fridge. This afternoon is going to be better.
