H has now discussed his PSA levels with the GP. As we suspected they are abnormally high. He's had them tested a few times before and they have always been just over 3. They are not supposed to be more than 4. They are now over 9. So there needs to be an investigation as to why they are so high. Possibly it's an infection. He's also been told that it's possible to have an enlarged prostate without it being cancerous. He's having more tests and they then will decide if he needs a scan, or a referral to the hospital.
They wanted him at the surgery tomorrow, but he had to tell them he can't go because he has to take me for my hospital appointment. It's not just that I can't drive, I've been specifically told to take him with me. I don't think that either of us can quite believe what a nightmare our lives are turning into at the moment. H is never ill, he's not on any medication and he's never needed a hospital appointment.
I suppose we have to feel lucky that ever since the pandemic we've been living a carefree life with no worries until recently. H says that this must be payback time because we've been enjoying ourselves too much. I'm just glad that we have been making the most of life at every opportunity. We managed to have a lovely day yesterday with wine and cream cakes. Perhaps we'll do the same again this afternoon.
