H got a call from the hospital last night to say his MRI results are back and a Consultant from Urology would be phoning today. The Consultant called this morning and said something has been seen on the MRI that requires further investigation. So the next step will be a biopsy. He's booked in for tomorrow morning.
I went to Birmingham yesterday to see the Consultant at the Birmingham Sarcoma Service. That was a long tiring day, The hospital transport picked me up at 8.30am and we got there at 12.15pm. The Consultant said that they still don't know what sort of sarcoma I have, my biopsies are being reviewed by pathology specialists and it's a complicated procedure. It could be bone sarcoma or it could be soft tissue sarcoma. Both are rare and will need the same treatment, probably chemo and a jawbone reconstruction. However it's important they find out which type of sarcoma it is first because with one of them you do the chemo before surgery, with the other sort you do the chemo after surgery. They will let me know as soon as they can and then we can get started with treatment.
I spent about half an hour with the Consultant, then I had a sit down with the CNS at Birmingham who has been allocated to me. She was very kind. It's good I now have two of them to talk to. We left Birmingham at 1.15pm and were very lucky with the traffic, made it home at 4.15pm.
