Hospital clinics yesterday

1 minute read time.

Yesterday as we had to travel to Nottingham for various clinics at the hospital.  Up early as we are never sure when hospital transport will arrive.  H is now allowed to come with me due to my lack of speech and hearing.  We had a busy day there.  Traffic wasn't too bad, got there in just over 2 hours.  Saw the consultant, the wounds dressing nurse, the speech and language therapist, the dietician, and had a head xray.  More daily procedures to add to the long list.  Eyedrops and ointment, more swallowing exercises, speech practice, and bathing of wounds and application of ointment.

Journey back was busier. Got home just after 4pm to find several messages from the GP, he had even been round the house.  More swabs are required about the suspected fungal infection in the feeding tube, and they have to be done that evening or they won't be back from the lab in time. The feeding tube nurse needs the results Monday before making a final decision on whether to change the tube or not.  So we had to go straight up to the surgery and get that done.

Absolutely exhausted afterwards.  Got as much water and protein drink down the tube as I could, had a wash and went straight to bed.

Next Wednesday is our next scheduled hospital clinic visit, hopefully there will be time to rest over the next few days.

  • Hello Margaret, I usually have a little browse through the blogs every week or so, and always find it a shame that in general, there are not many comments as folk document their 'journeys' so honestly.

(Sometimes I hope Macmillan would step in and suggest the forums may be a better place as sometimes they are just requests for advice....)

However, regarding your blog story....my goodness, how exhausting for you, and your strength dealing with all of it is admirable. Thank you.

Best wishes to you both x

  • Thanks for your kind comments, much appreciated.  x
