We went to bed at 9.30pm last night in readiness for an early start this morning. We left at 7.15am to get to the hospital for H's pre op assessment appointment at 8.30am. It's only 20 miles away but we don't have any dual carriageway roads locally. Our hospital appointments are always carried out at the nearest possible hospital, but every one we go to is an awkward journey. I don't think we have ever managed to not get stuck for miles behind either a bus, a tractor, a dustcart, or the worst of all - a horsebox. Not to forget the temporary traffic lights for roadworks. Today it was a tractor. Got there in plenty of time though.
H's appointment was with a nurse and it took about 15 minutes. I wasn't able to go in with him, lack of space, but he said it was pretty much what I'd thought. No ECG, and I'd forgotten about the MRSA swabs, but the rest was the same as I'd remembered me having. He came out with plenty of leaflets to read and instructions about what to pack for the biopsy next Tuesday.
When we got home we sorted out his transport arrangements for the procedure. I don't drive and H has been told he's not to drive himself. He qualifies for hospital transport home as he's having a general anaesthetic. However the journey there has to be dealt with by the community transport service. Fortunately we got both journeys booked without any problem.
