8am today the phone rings, and it's Royal Brompton Hospital.

In short bish, bash, bosh...

Off to London on the dawn train tomorrow. Thursday is 'Mitra Clip' heart valve repair. Home on Friday or Saturday (although 1 in 1000 chance of death)

If this works, and latest scans show no cancer progression, I should be able to have my pelvis emptied in around a month.

I'll write more next week (unless they did patient 999 today?)

Wow - that's our NHS at it's best. I do wish you well with the valve repair because once that's done -everything else should fall into place.

You will be home for weekend and the "big one" should be next.
