mouth ulcers

Less than one minute read time.

Hi there , I wonder if anyone can offer any advice as to how to treat mouth ulcers . My husband har chemotherapy and radio therapy  for tonsil cancer , ending in july 2010 one of the side affects of the treatment was terrible mouth ulcers caused by the radiotherapy , the consultant said this was one of the worse cases he had seen but said it would get better in time , which to a certain extent they did , but they are constantly re occuring ,nothing seems to heldp . would be grateful for any ideas .

thanks

Thank you everyone for replying to question on mouth ulcers . Peter has tried both difflam and gelcair and to a certain extent difflam work well when the ulcers are not to bad , he has also had a mouthwash called caphosil which also helps a bit , but it is in the flare up times when nothing really seems to work , however he has been told that as his mouth was so badly damaged by the radio therapy he can expect it to take much longer than normal for the cells to re generate , even though this information does not make the ulcers better it does give some hope . Thanks again
