Sorry your having to go through this Hilary.  As an asthmatic, never mind a lung cancer sufferer, I know how scary this can be.

Molly's right, focus on your breathing, try for slow deep breaths.  If you can only manage shallow breathing, it may be the pleural effusion has caused the problem and it may need drained.

Hope the NHS get into action quickly to put this right.  Let us know how you get on.

Its never too late, if you feel in distress go to the A&E dept

of your Hospital. At least they can check you out , and relieve any anxiety you may have and put your mind at ease.  All the best and good luck.

Hi Hilary,

I am breathless too. I have bowel cancer with liver and lung secondaries. The bowel and liver are ok( surgery) but the lungs have not responded to any chemo. I  can't walk across a room or go upstairs and I have a wheelchair for going out. It is very scary at times. I have 2 inhalers Clenil and Ventolin and I have a nebuliser. I just think that trying not to panic and breathing slowly helps when  you feel breathless. You have my sympathy, I know how it feels- hang in there.
