No, *this* is your elbow ...

1 minute read time.

And another Churchill!fail. Yesterday, you will remember, I didn't get the tummy drain I was promised because I had a radiographer appointment but no bed. And they promised faithfully that they would fit me in tomorrow.

Today I had a phone call from Omar, the doctor I spoke to on the chemo ward on Tuesday - the one who organised, or not, the drain in the first place. Tomorrow I have a bed. But the radiographer doesn't work on Fridays ...

Can I come in Monday? No, I can't come in Monday. I'm having a PICC line inserted on Monday, and I don't know how long that will take. I can't come in Tuesday, either; I have chemo on Tuesday. Oh, and by the way, I'm in pain right now.

So he went away for a bit, and then he came back and said okay, they'd insert the drain on the ward. (I've had this done before, and it seemed to work okay.) Can I come in first thing tomorrow?

Assuming we can get out of bed and through the traffic, sure. When's 'first thing'?

10.00? he suggests. Or no: make it 9.00 so they can do bloods first.

I only had bloods done on Monday, before chemo, but whatever. At this stage, I'll say yes to pretty much anything.

So, there won't be time for an update tomorrow morning. Judy and I, my bag and my bear, will once again be wending our way through the commuter traffic, in the faint but pursuing hopes of who-knows-what.

Stay tuned.

I HOPE you get your drain tomorrow and that they don't hurt you and that it makes you feel better. I can't begin to imagine what this is doing to you.

    Giant gentle hugs and an eff-load of spoons. x x x x x

    Hi Hils,

What a complete bag of shite! I used to have a pair of hobnail boots around the house, I could pass them on to you as they would not like those size nines up their backsides!

I am hoping today goes smoothly for you.

    Tight lines

Quick update:  we arrived at the hospital at 8 am (the traffic was remarkably light).  The drain was eventually started about 5:40 pm.   I am told I must do an update from my POV, so watch this space.  First I have to organise events (somebody has to; one thing's for sure - Churchill Oncology weren't doing it).

Hilary is stuck overnight in a ward with two ladies with breathing difficulties and one with a pneumatic bed.  I have equipped her with earplugs but am not holding out much hope for her getting any sleep.
