After effects of radiation

Less than one minute read time.
Has anyone experienced the after effects of radiation from chem in the anal area? My poor mom has uncontrollable accidents quite a few times a month. She lives on immodium and the doctors don't know what to do. Just curious if anyone else has experienced this. Thanks you so much for listening.

Hi Dee, i'm sorry that your mum is having to go through this unpleasantness! I was told by my oncologist that radiotherapy does normally cause the bowel to work more frequently and that it would be generally looser than prior to treatment. I unfortunately had septocemia after my operation end ended up with major problems with my bowel completely shutting down and me needing to take laxatives to get and subsequently keep them going. I have found that i used to have "accidents" on a regular basis and found that i needed to wear night towels 24/7. Unfortunately not a solution to your mum's problem but just wanted to let you know that im with her in spirit and hopefully with time it will settle down and improve.....things do take a while to start to settle after treatment.

    Good luck to you both

    Lorna
