Debs Daily Deliberations - 6

3 minute read time.

The weekend is here!!!!!!! No radiotherapy for two days but unfortunately today I woke feeling a little nauseus and with a headache - hoping its just hormone levels as I really don't want to be put on steroids if I can avoid it. Despite my humorous blogs last week, it was kinda crap.......we are feeling the 'financial pressure' of having cancer. I only worked part-time before my seizure, 3 hours a day in a pre-school, I loved it but the money was poop and I didnt earn enough to pay National Insurance. So apparently I am eligable for Income Support or whatever they call it, the only benefit I may be able to get is Disability Thingamajiggy when my SSP runs out in June. Oh and I am not supposed to get stressed during treatment LMAO Anyway I am sure others have had worse stories and I dont wanna harp on about money - tis the root of all evil (unless I win the lottery that is LOL).......my eldest has been saving his cash up for a new computer, he had my old one thats flipping ancient! It was his birthday Tuesday and after we added another £150, he bought a super duper new one. Hubby bought a new wireless bit cos of course it was no longer compatible, but our N1 router kept freezing and throwing him and Sean's laptop offline. You can imagine his dismay......finally gets a new computer that he doesnt have to peddle to run and still can't do anything. So off to PC World today with router and receipt and explain it doesnt work properly. The man came back and said they only had the next one up in stock - we were preparing ourselves for another cash outlay when he says its £15 cheaper.......couldn't bloody believe it!!!!!!!!!! Happy surfing family now.......zipping along. We came home to install it before we headed (no pun intended) off to Ware to visit another wig shop. This one was recommended to me by my lovely macmillan lady. The owners daughter got alapocia at 16 and after finding nowhere that really catered for her, they set up Hair To Ware. They only deal with ladies with either hairloss through chemo treatment and alopecia, they are not a fashion wig store. I didn't want to book an appointment because even when it says "no obligation" I always feel pressured and preferred to just walk in unannounced and get a feel for the place. The receptionist was fabulous, made us feel right at home and showed us around and explained what they do and how they do it. End result, I am going back on Wednesday to try me some hair out!!!!!! What with my pamper day next month and new hair Hubby was joking I will look like a supermodel - hmmmm more like Barbie if she had eaten for the last 40 years maybe LOL Hubby even picked a few wigs out that HE liked........blimey getting worried, he's never been the sort to get "in touch with his feminine side" if you know what I mean ;) Had a wander round the garden centre and bought a couple of new plants for the garden, told Hubby that I expect him to buy a beautiful magnolia or blossoming tree in memory of me after I have moved on to annoy another plane (imagine me as a ghost LMAO) he just tutted and wandered off. He actually confided in me that some of the adults were chatting about wedding anniversaries last night at karate, it was one of our friends 44th! and said that it actually upset him.......again, very worrying, not like him at all and I decided it was best not to try and joke around that one! So, we have some gardening to do later and I have heaps of washing to get on with while the sun shines. Not a particulary humorous or funny blog today - but hey, even funny folks need time out......I am sure by Monday I will be back on form........dont dessert me, I haven't lost it honest ;) Todays quote: "Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away."

  • Hi Debs,

Your blogs are a joy to read whether humorous or not. This one certainly wasn't all doom and gloom. I'm a keen gardener or a keen instructor of my husband who actually does the planting! I can't wait to get my annuals in now the pansies and primulas are on their last legs.

    Love the quote too!

Enjoy the weekend Deb.  Looking forward to the next blog.

Oh I looooove Van Hagues!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Could spend a whole day there.....but would need a bank loan LOL  Often go there for birthday pressies for family, the whole nicknack section etc, get lost in there every time!

Hubby is upstairs rearranging our built in wardrobes - I conveniently felt very sleepy after our visit to the wig shop ;) thank gawd he doesnt read these LOL

Think the gardening will have to wait till tomorrow, we have the joy of bathing the dog yet to come, what a jetset life I lead ;)

    Hi Debs

I'm surprised you took the time to write your blog today - was someone chasing you?   LOL

We all have bad days I'm having one myself - she says shoving another jaffa cake in her mouth.  Took eldest back to Uni today, yes I know she's only an hour away and will be home with her washing next weekend but I feel more positive when they are all here.  Doesn't mean I won't be moaning about being the laundry woman again next week though!

Gardening - sore subject - I planted seeds without labeling the pots and don't know which are going to be herbs and which will be flowers and as for the easygro tomato bag I purchased (seed already in the soil) only one seedling after several weeks.  Just as well mine aren't keen on tomatoes!

As for wigs, I never wore mine (mainly because I never lost my hair) - however, not happy that everyone thought I looked better with wig on.  Must look worse than I thought as I thought I looked like a drag queen in the wig.

You'll love the pampering day, you get loads of goodies to come home with and your daughter isn't even old enough to beg, steal and borrow any of the items!

Have fun washing the dog - which cycle do you use for dogs?  Only joking, dog lovers!!!

    Love

    Hi Debs,

Havnt posted for awhile on the site, but wanted to let you know that you don't have to wait for your SSP to run out before you can claim disability living allowance. This can be claimed once you have been unwell and needing help with care/mobility for 3 months or more. I would urge you to get the claim form and get it off asap, claims can usually be back dated and remember when your filling it in give examples of how you feel on your worse days...Good Luck

    Love

    Angela. xx
