Debs Daily Deliberations - 40

2 minute read time.
Evening All, Well today didn't pan out exactly as planned. Text Dad to say happy birthday and that he had three more placesettings to put out for Sunday Roast today (Tony, Lara & me!!!).....within minutes the phone rang and I could hear Tony chatting away while I was in the bath. Basically Mum was really poorly - sore throat, coughing & sneezing - not so bad really but I will be starting oral chemo in the next week or so and my family are in a panic about infections!!!! I don't think I would have been in any danger but as it was Sunday and I couldn't phone anyone for answer.........stay away - boo hoo. My Dad does a wicked roast dinner and I was sooooo looking forward to it. So out of the bath and now what to do???? Nothing in for dinner as we weren't going to be here and the boys were going to get themselves something. So I dress up anyway, black linen trousers, my favourite white linen blouse (which does nowt for my figure but I bloody love it anyway) and pop on my new white hat from California........we head off to The Gibberd Gardens, home of the architect of Harlow New Town. Down the narrow country lane, over the speed ramps and.........CLOSED!!!!!! It was 11am and the gardens don't open till 2pm...great!!!! So a bit sulkily (yeah I admit it) we head back to Tesco's, get enough stuff for me to do Chicken Pannini's for lunch and some salad and BBQ bits - well it literally was a few as you can imagine most of southern England are having BBQ's today. Get home, make the pannini's and head back to the garden to eat lunch with a nice cold drink. Spend some time with Lara until its time to try and go back to the gardens.....Lara wants to wear high heels (girls.....so bloody stubborn) we try explaining the garden will be uneven and she needed flat or suitable shoes. Well Lara decides to stay at home with her big bro as she is not going to wear "ugly shoes". The gardens are peaceful and calm and peppered with an ecclectic collection of sculptures. Right by the carpark is a colourful metal bull....sadly his horns had been removed, however......we could hear chicks chirping inside so some bird family had made good use of a piece of broken artwork. We walked and walked and I took lots of photos......still got to sort those out yet! Home and Lara is sulking (haha) but can't keep it up for long. Next thing I know, I am ASLEEP on the sofa........whats that all about! I felt like crap when I woke up about an hour later LOL Tony did a fabulous BBQ aided throughout by Lara, she has been a great little helper this weekend (apart from her minor strops!) and we all agree it has been a fabulous couple of days and I will miss them tomorrow as they go back to work and school. Forgot to say, Sean and Lara emerged about 9am from their 'camping experience'......Lara moaned that she only got a little more sleep than when her hamster is active - apparently Sean talks in his sleep LOL Not put her off enough to say she doesnt want to do it again tho ;) Thought for today: I am thankful for laughter, except when milk comes out of my nose.
