Debs Daily Deliberations - 36

4 minute read time.
I SURVIVED!!!!!!!!!! Parents packed off home again and I am still breathing at a fairly normal rate LOL But before I delve into the mysterious realm of the parental visit I have to ask, did anyone see the live brain surgery last night OMG!!!!!!!!!! Tony had set the cable box to record it as I wasn't sure I wanted to see a craniotomy......its one thing to go through it but to see what they did.......hmmmmmmmmm not sure I really wanted to go there. However, the patient introduced himself and spoke a bit about his seizures etc and then wham.....we were live watching them trying to control the bleeding after removing a portion of the skull. What did freak me out was that this chap was AWAKE had been given a local but awake and talking. His tumour was in a place where speech could be affected and it was necessary to check before proceeding at various points. I found myself totally engrossed and even had some of my own questions answered when the audience asked the self same thing I had often wondered since my surgery - like what happened to the cavity after the tumour was removed? Well in case you didnt see it, the brain fills it with fluid. So I guess I have a little lagoon in my brain now, of course its probably more like a puddle but lagoon sounds so much less 'essex' LOL Downside was I had to stay up till almost midnight, first time since the night before surgery I have been up that late. OK fast forward to Wednesday, I am bleary eyed at 9am at my backdoor about to let my doggy out to piddle and I spot bird feathers - all over my lawn and a cat shot over the fence. Let Dexter out and started to clear the feathers up and notice in the corner a poor pigeon, barely alive but kicking his legs - as I looked at him/her they tried to lift their head and I saw all the blood and damage and knew this little dicky bird was not going to make it. I did what I always do in a crisis - rang Tony, who told me he could not come from work to remove a pigeon from the garden! Hmmpf, I had to do something before Lara got up and absolutely lost it, she is so sensitive when it comes to animals. So what did I do.......well I phoned my Daddy of course LOL 42 years old and still needs her Daddy to sort out 'garden carnage'. I was very upset and kept apologising to the pigeon as I put a bucket over him to prevent Lara from seeing and Dexter doing what terriers do. I know he/she needed to be put out of her misery, but I am weak, I couldn't do it. Thankfully Dad 'sorted it' for us :'( Midday and the I hear the car pull up outside.........sharp intake of breath and "the visit" had begun. You know, I think I had braced myself for a 'gale force 9' when in fact it hardly touched on "gusting" throughout LOL I now have enough plants to rival the Chelsea Flower Show and will be very busy this weekend 'beautifying' my garden. I had yellow roses for my wedding as I love yellow flowers - so sunny and my all time favourite flowers are irises of any colour. But Dad had cultivated a yellow iris for me, what a love. Mum had not bought me a hat.........but a fleece cardigan and a dress. Dad showed off his latest photos, they were fab and I struggled to control my green eyed monster when it comes to photography. We had fish and chips - or variations on that and cakes and the parents left still speaking to each other. Just as Mum was using the loo before they left Dad asked the dreaded question......."come on, show us your scar"......."please Dad, dont make me take my hat off"....."dont be stupid, just show me your scar"......so the first person outside of my circle of trust was shown my shining bonce and scar...."oh" he says "its not as impressive as I thought it would be......well I mean its very neat and healed up nicely"........I quickly don my hat again and he doesn't even mention the lack of hair. Now in all this excitement, I had a parcel arrive from a lady I met online 6 years ago in a graphics forum.....a huge box that simply said inside using pink flourescent marker pen on a piece of paper "the theme for this box is comfort". Adrienne knows that I am partial to Stovetop stuffing mix, which I dont think you can get in the UK.....well I have enough for 48 servings now along with some other american foodstuff's and candy and choccies. I also had a beautiful white dressing gown from Harrah's in Reno supplied by her friend Janet (I designed Janets wedding vowel renewal cards using my own photos) a turqoise cap with sequins sown on and a white cowgirl style hat with silver studs. Moisturising gloves and socks with toes along with an assortment of body lotions and pampering stuff. I tell you, apart from the 'garden carnage' I have been a very spoilt little girl today and I LOVE IT lol. Thought for today: "Some people suffer from insanity, others just enjoy it." unknown

A special day for a special lady (well apart from the pigeon. . . . .)

I came back from the docs dancing (sort of) as he's taken out the drain - freedom - and on the doorstep there was a big box of flowers from M&S then just as I was sorting them out the doorbell rang, another delivery of a huge bouquet from work, so I'm also enjoying a spoilt little girl day

    love n (gentle) hugs
