Debs Daily Deliberations - 32

2 minute read time.
Good afternooners, Firstly happy birthday to my dog Dexter.....he is 7 years old today, I may have written he was 8 in an earlier blog but......I got it wrong. The birthday boy was booked into the groomers, handstrip - nails and bum squeeze (just what every fella wants eh). "Dropped him off at 10am and then we killed some time by going to Van Hague's garden centre in Ware. It was a gloriously sunny morning and first things first.........straight to the restaurant for a lovely cooked breakfast with tea for one, Tony choosing coffee. We had a good look around the plants, Tony is obsessed with Japanese Acers.......found one he hasn't got so maybe going back Monday for that! They have a pet area, chooks, peacocks, pygmy goats, giant rabbits etc etc.......wandered around wishing I had my camera!!! We called in at a petshop on our way back hoping to buy Dexter a doggy birthday cake - yes I know completely mad but they have stopped doing them anyway! Substituted for a few treats instead. Picked him up from the groomers and he looked several years younger and such a handsome boy!!!!!!! Came back and did some boring household stuff - laundry, hanging out the washing and then took Dexter for a walk around the country park, stopping at Tesco's to get the necessaries for our typical Saturday night dinner: big plate of Nacho's for all to share, grilled halloumi cheese, pitta breat, grissini, houmous, various dips, coleslaw, potato salad and spicy couscous - a united nations of dishes LOL But we very much like the picky picky idea for saturdays - help yourself kinda affair. I have just sat down with a "bigger than I should have" slice of carrot cake my sister baked me and a cup of tea - I have to tell you, the cake is deeeeeeelicious. I will admit that I am feeling rather tired now, had a minor headache when I woke up too but........the radiotherapy treatment is 'peaking' around now, so can't complain I have had no side-effects to speak of. Tomorrow is Tony's 42nd birthday and we are heading to The Grove for the afternoon, he will be doing what he loves the best - karate, and I will be photographing for the website and very much enjoy the way the Grove look after us while we are there, its hardly a chore!!!!!!!!! Hope whatever you are or are not doing, you are having a fabulous weekend. Thought for today: A clear conscience is usually the sign of a bad memory

  • I have been reading your daily blogs since I joined the site and am amazed at your energy.

I finished my treatment for breast cancer last November and although I can manage to do the shopping, cooking and a bit of cleaning I am knackered after about 2 hours.

When I was undergoing radiotherapy I felt really well but I seem to be going backwards at the moment. Its very frustrating as the mind is willing but my body will not respond.

Everyone says how good I look which is true. If only I could feel as good as I look.

Family and friends think I should be running a marathon by now but they do not understand. I cannot seem to get through to them that I have been through a lot in just over a year with mastectomy, chemo and radio and reconstruction due next November.

PS Have put on a stone and a half during chemo due to friends making me homemade chocolate cake which I love.

Can you do some low fat meals for us to copy please.

    Love
