Extended Birthday Celebrations
Because I am special (special in what way you can decide & keep to yourselves thankyou!) I, like the Queen had a real birthday and an official one this year. My middle sister Sharon collected me around 10.30am and we headed to Shoeburyness to where my youngest sister Diane lives.
After a cup of tea on the patio at Dianes (and everyone making a comfort stop) we headed to Southend On Sea, to La Tasca for a tapas lunch (my favourite food). We had lots: Calamari with garlic mayo, baby aubergines with tomatoes & cheese, garlic mushrooms, chicken & mushrooms in fino & cream, breaded fish with garlic mayo, baby spinach salad, patatas bravas, spanish omlette, bread with olive oil & balsamic vinegar dip....maybe some other stuff I can't remember now too. It was delicious and we washed it down with sparkling water, thank goodness we all love garlic......but boy did we stink when we left!
Next we headed to Southend sea front and a very nice bistro place that served Illy coffee and a decent pot of tea. It was so nice, we sat on the glass sided verandah (where the above pics were taken) and drank LOTS of English Breakfast Tea (in the afternoon, we know how to be rebellious LOL), laughed a lot, took lotsa pics on our phones and then laughed even more at the table of typical 'Essex Ladies Wot Lunch'. These women were all in their late 50's, bleached blonde hair, fake tans, designer clothes (prob from a market somewhere ), immaculate nails, huge diamonds and never done a days work in their life! Another comfort stop - after all that tea we had drunk and drove back to Shoeburyness.
me & sharon (yes I know its Sharon & I, did get an English O'level believe it or not - when I was only 14!)
As the weather was playing very nice, we went to the icecream parlour where our 16yo niece Ella (Dianes daughter) has a summer job and walked to the seawall to sit and eat in our icecreams......well it was more like a race....could we eat them before the sun melted them! I am proud to say, I got through lunch, afternoon tea and an icelolly without getting any down me - anyone who really knows will testify what an achievement that is lol. We waited for Ella to finish work and went back to Dianes, where we sat on the patio and drank - yep MORE tea. It truly was a wonderful day out with my sisters but I am sure it was even better for them, cos I was there!!!!!
Thought for today:
Birthdays are good for you. Statistics show that the people who have the most live the longest.
