Debs Daily Deliberations 238

3 minute read time.

Hello all my friends in Macland, just popped in for a quick blog (almost sounds rude LOL).  Firstly I have to inform you all of the sad passing of our turd toad.  He spent a couple of days in our pond and then disappeared.  Bank Holiday weekend he was back, but Tony noticed he never seemed to move from his position on one of the plant shelves, between two pots with just his little face poking out of the water.  I laughed at him saying they have to stay still to catch the bugs!  Anyway by Monday even I was a bit concerned........so I poked him with a garden cane (gently!) and he didn't react............so I prodded a bit harder and with that he turned over and floated upside down..........NOT GOOD.  So at that point, I got Tony to be funeral director and I didn't ask what he did with him either!  RIP Turd Toad, but the circle of life continues and our frog/toad and newt tadpoles are all getting quite big  and some are sprouting limbs!

Family life is hectic, Sean has to choose his subjects in the next couple of weeks that he wants to take for GCSE's......I remember it all too well with Jack, not an easy decision process like when I was at school.  Jack's GCSE's have started already and the stress and pressure is starting to get to him, VERY GRUMPY - not only that we have sixth form and college interviews, letters about induction days.......busy busy busy!

I have an oncology appointment next Friday, not sure what for, other than they must be missing me like crazy as I haven't been since February.  Oh my other big news, I have started a diet!  My mood isn't great, Tony would probably describe it as the same as being pre-menstrual......and its only been two weeks and my scales don't work so I don't even know if I've lost any weight!  I am not following a particular diet plan.  I've just cut out all crisps and cheese (apart from a piece of Low Low I bought for grating into a jacket spud).  When the family have bacon butties at the weekend, I have turkey rashers in Weightwatchers Malted Danish bread (at least I feel like I am not being left out).  I have a few "light choice" or diet type cake bars for when I feel the urge for a sweet snack.  We are having a roast today and my potatoes are dry roasting in a non stick baking dish on their own........how sad.  I was pushed into this because I tried on my favourite pair of black linen trousers, only to find I couldn't do them up !!!!!!!!  Not gone up a dress size, but must have gained a few sausage rolls around the waist!!

Well thats about it I think........ here's a snap of a little viola/violet I found growing in my front lawn

Thought for today:
When things go wrong as they sometimes will,
When the road you're trudging seems all up hill,
When the funds are low and the debts are high,
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit, Rest if you must, but don't you quit.
Life is strange with its twists and turns,
As every one of us sometimes learns,
And many a failure turns about,
When he might have won had he stuck it out.
Don't give up though the pace seems slow--You may succeed with another blow,
Success is failure turned inside out--The silver tint of the clouds of doubt,
And you never can tell how close you are,
It may be near when it seems so far;
So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit--It's when things seem worst that you must not quit.

Thanks debs great to see a blog from you seems ages, Take careXX Look after all those turd toad babies, by the way what is a turd toad.

  • Aw, Debs... great to have you back, if only for a visit! We have a garden pond and lots of frogs and toads turn up at the mating season. One year we had 'the massacre of the toads' with lots of bodies - sitting, floating... whatever. It would seem it was due to an overdose of 'toad progesterone' where the daddy toads were much too enthusiastic in their mating ritual and drowned many of the  mummy toads. (If it is not too graphic a description - it was a toad 'gang bang'. LOL)

Your family life sounds so wonderfully normal - kids worrying about exams... parents worrying about kids worrying. Good luck with all that...

    Your friend,

    KateG
