Friday and Jack still doesn't look good so I send him back to his room. Tony took Lara to school as it was absolutely tipping down with rain. Sean just put on his raincoat and rode to school - stopping at Tesco's to get a bacon bap from the Cafe just as he and his friends do every Friday!
I straighten my hair and get ready for when Tony gets back from dropping Lara off and getting petrol. I've never driven - did try learning a few times but trust me, you are all safer for me giving up - but I can't believe the cost of fuel these days. So Tony back home I tell Jack to go and get in our bed - closer to the bathroom and I know the dogs will just curl up with him and we leave.
The start of the journey wasn't too bad, roadworks around the M11 roundabout caused a bit of a tailback but the closer we got to Romford, the heavier the traffic got and we wondered what was going on, the traffic was really bad in both directions! Get into the oncology department and Kelly comes over for a chat and tells us how there is a two day bus strike - ahhhhh the penny drops for the traffic situation. Emma my oncologist saunters in 5 mins after my appointment time (this is pretty good for her lol) and goes in to see Kate her registrar. She comes out and walks over and asks how I am and that I will be seeing Kate today and to have a good Christmas.
Kate calls us in and checks my bloods and writes me out a prescription - oh NOOOOOOOO Kelly and Kim had forgotten to put it in at the pharmacy for us. Oh well, we'll have to go for breakfast while we wait. She explains they want to see me at the end of January and that I will be scanned early Jan not February. I don't mind, as long as its after Christmas. She can't find the appointment pad and scribbles a note on the back of a microbiology form.
We head off to the pharmacy after walking the two hundred miles of corridor (ok thats an exaggeration but you get the idea yes) and the lady behind the counter says that I do realise that Chemo presciptions take longer to fill as they need to be checked several times, yes I do realise, its my last cycle. She tells us to give it about 45mins and we go into the Cafe with the intention of having a cuppa tea and coffe and a roll, but the cooked breakfast selection was just begging us to partake!
So after a truly handsome breakfast we walked the short distance to the pharmacy and I see my ticket number is already displayed on the electronic board. I go up to the window and go through my details, name and date of birth and am asked if I know about the drugs, oh yes this is my final cycle - she smiles and hands the carrier bag over. We leave, saying hello to a few of the radiotherapists who we pass along the corridor on their way to the cafe for their break.
We stop back at oncology and hand in my unconventional appointment letter - signed off with 'Ta Kate' which gave the receptionist a chuckle as she complains there were no kisses on it! Within minutes we are back in our car on the way home with my poison.
Get back and Jack's looking a little brighter and manages a bowl of porridge for his lunch. Tony and Jack go through all the old X Box, PSP, Nintendo Wii and DS games and have quite a large pile. Tony and I take these to the Game store and get £46 pounds back on them which gives us enough with what we already had on our loyalty card to buy them another PS3 controller, Singstar microphones and Take That.
Home and we have burgers & chips for dinner (chicken burgers) and I help Lara get ready to go to a Children In Need party at the local social club with her friends family. Before she goes we all have a go on Singstar, I am expecting a call from Simon Cowell any minute now ;) The boys have fun on Call of Duty before Sean goes to table tennis, he was lucky enough to be coached by the Dutch National Champion for the entire evening. We watched I'm A Celebrity, oh I still do quite like Gino......Joe what a pig and oh dear what a shame for Katie & Kim - how strong is your stomach?
Jack went to bed as he's not 100% yet and Tony and Sean watch Commando on tv while I sit at my computer waiting for Lara to get home. I heard some shocking and sad news about one of our members here. A few of us could see what was happening but in these situations there isn't anything really to be done except be there when it all comes crashing down. Thank goodness Lanz was around and shame on the person who took advantage of a very nice guy - NUFF SAID.
Lara came home and had paid to have her face painted, it was so beautiful - will post a photo tomorrow as I took some quick snaps before she removed it. She had a great time at the party and hopefully they raised a good amount for Children In Need. Looked at the clock 11.50pm....my goodness ten minutes and I'll turn into a pumpkin, so headed off to bed very tired.

Thought for today:
Some people come into our lives and quickly go. Some stay for awhile and leave footprints on our hearts. And we are never, ever the same.
