Tuesday and we wake to glorious blue skies and sunshine and a touch of frost on the back lawn (its just a patch of grass but lawn sounds so much better lol) get the laundry hung out nice and early and decide that as I am visiting my friend and her "surprise" baby on Thursday I would go into town and buy a few more things for the bag of stuff I already have! I am at the bus stop by 8.45am, never been out this early with the exception of hospital visits in a year!
While in town I buy a new hat, 3 new tops and a pair of plain gold studs - most of my ear-rings are fiddly or fancy and I have to take them out every three months for an MRI (I like to just leave em in) so these are perfect! Find a little pink & faun dress with a long sleeved top under and matching pair of tights in the sale for £5 and grab that for Emily's bag. Oh then I got myself a pretty pale pink bra, really rather nice......not that it will look that good on my steroid bloated body but hey gotta try and keep the hubby happy somehow, after all, who'd want me now .......decide not to buy the matching tiny pink knickers.....figured that would be like "chewing toffee" on my butt, wonder if I can find any big girl knickers in pale pink!
Sorry Tesco's but as I am in town I wander into.....shhhhhhhhh Asda's and decide that I am going to try and recreate a Ken Hom dish I saw a while back on Channel 5 between programmes on a slot called Family Recipes. I can't remember all the ingrediants so will have to wing it (pardon the pun)....chicken wings stir fried in a Wok (sounds weird but I will try anything once) with garlic, spring onions and ginger and I think he used black bean sauce but two of my kids don't like that so I got a little sachet of Sweet Soy with Garlic & Ginger. Well the house smelled wonderful but enough chicken wings for a family of five is really hard to cook in a Wok and I am a paranoid android about chicken being cooked properly so after they were all crispy I popped them in an oven proof dish and into the oven to finish off. We had it with a simple bowl of noodles and beansprouts with a dash of soy and some spring onions. I also cooked a few "plain" wings in the oven knowing how fussy my kids are....but the pile of flavoured wings went down PDQ!!!!!!
Went upstairs and got changed into one of my new tops, applied some makeup and topped it off with my new hat (yes I was wearing trousers too, not lost that many marbles yet) as I was going out for a coffee with my sister. Back downstairs and Lara is designing a DVD jacket for a film version of the book they are reading in English. I open up my graphics programme and make her title look like its glossy and dripping blood - best Mum ever apparently Hear my sister "toot" outside and run around grabbing my handbag and jacket and as I got my phone off the side I dropped it, back came off, battery fell out.......SHIT! Gathered all the bits and threw them into my handbag. We made it to Costa's by 6.15pm and my sister has a toasted chicken and bacon club sarnie and I just have a skinny latte with one of their breakfast loafs (yes at night, I am a certified headcase you know) its like an individual loaf of carrot cake with lots of different seeds in it...yummy! Had a good natter and as they close at 7pm I was back home within the hour but made a welcome break.
Helped Lara print her homework out at the right size to fit inside an old DVD case......she even got a blank CD and glued ROOM 13 to which she applied red beads...looked very good, I was pretty proud of her. She had trouble cutting the jacket to size, so Dad stepped in and saved the day.
Today was a good day.......wonder what tomorrow will bring
Thought for today:
Yesterday I dared to struggle. Today I dare to win.
