Debs Daily Deliberations 160

2 minute read time.

Tuesday morning and its the usual carnage that is three teenage kids getting ready for school. There's only Thursday when one of them doesn't have Physical Education and I have a little chart by the computer which tells me who has what on what day - so white top or rugby top, netball skirt or shorts.....cos I can't bloomin remember it all.

8.15am and all was quiet on the Perry front. I got myself ready early and headed off for my daily walk to Tesco's before 9am today. Of course the disadvantage to this is I meet a lot of "mums" along the way (primary school & pre-school at other end of Tesco's carpark - actually some good planning for a change) and this means I get a few steps and then have to go through the "how are you, whats happening with your treatment, don't you look well" at least five thousand times - ok I like to exaggerate and I know they mean well but it gets tiring saying the same thing and I don't always want to talk about "my illness" does everyone forget you still live a normal life too!

I definately know that its near that time because I am getting grumpy and I know I am but can't help it.....I am also starting to stress about my bloodtest on Wednesday and wonder if they will find the vein. I did the vacuuming and also dug a huge weed out from inbetween my day lillies, not sure if I got all the root or not but it took bloomin ages and I was out of puff when it came to putting the spade back in the shed - still thats good isn't it, another bit of exercise. Spent most of the afternoon chasing Ollie for my slippers, gawd knows why he likes them - THEY SMELL - of roses naturally. The kids come home and the carnage resumes. Littlest and oldest are not getting on at all. Jack thinks he has become a third parent and Lara has just got to secondary school and drunk from the fountain of "I know it all now". Makes for an interesting dinner........NOT.

Talking of dinner, Tony chose it today...pork & leek sausages with sauteed red onions with mustard mash, broccoli and I cook the gravey in the onion pan and add worcestershire sauce. It was actually pretty good. I ate with natives as Tony was working late and I was going out for a coffee with my sister. Tony literally just walked through the door as I left. We went to a pub that serves Costa Coffee but ended up with a bowl of profiteroles and a pot of tea! The profiteroles were good, but not as good as mine.

Watched some TV and waited until 10.30pm for Tony to get back from karate and then locked the backdoor, text him to say he'll have to come in the front and headed to bed. He comes upstairs and says "are you tired, thought you'd be reading a book?", I look at my phone, 10.45pm "yes I am tired at nearly 11pm"....he mutters something and goes off for a bath. I wake around 1.30pm with awful indigestion, go downstairs get a glass of milk and a ranetadine tablet and realise I've forgotten to take my antibiotic on Monday again! Oops.....concoction taken and back to beddybyes.

I think that there are basically thrre types of people who enquire about your health. Those that care, those that are just plain nosey and the third category that are guilty of naive projection - that is to say they have health fears of their own and use your illness as a relief valve. I have two friends in the last category - one has got a bad back and he insists that my ankles are shot - where he gets that from I don't know but every time I see him it's "How's your ankles.......not much hope there is there?" The second one always delves very deeply into why I was not out or where was I. "Is it the old cancer playing you up?" No actually, I had to be somewhere. Hospita? . No, although it might seem like I do actually go to places other than hospital. Aw bless them all. Wew might feel put out if they just ignored us!

I'm in awe, you actually MAKE profiteroles! Good luck with the veinhunt debs hope they get it 1st time. Yep know just what you mean bout the endless health comments and agree with drew re the catergories, I had an interrogation about my diet (was it bad? could that have caused the cancer?) when I was watching a beuautiful bride at a wedding and for once the c-monster was out of mind. Think vast majority are caring though and its insensitivity not malice that can hurt. Have a good day everyone, Karen xox

Yes I agree with you both......just somedays I can't be asked - especially the first few days of "pysco mum" time.....I am likely to rip the head off the vampire today if they hurt me and stick the needle up their nose.......oooooooh anger management issues now LOL

Oh Debs, I don't envy you the psyco days, I don't get them anymore, but when I did, I was evil. My hubby used to say to my sons 'watch out, your mum is launching her exocet missiles', as you can imagine, that made me 100 times worse. Now it's him that's a grumpy old man..............is there such a thing as a male menopause?
