Monday after the sad news I received over the weekend today brought a huge surprise. One of my work colleagues gave birth at home to a beautiful 7lb baby girl called Emily. Nothing particularly unusual about that, she woke with backache and pretty much had the baby before her husband woke up.....so whats unusual? she didn't know she was pregnant!!! I still find it hard to believe but as I saw her two weeks ago myself, she certainly didn't look pregnant at all, gained a bit of weight (but who hasn't). Her daughter and son are so excited and her husband looks like the cat that got the cream. They were taken to hospital by ambulance to be checked over. Mum and daughter doing fine. As one friend becomes a star in the sky, another star is born.....the circle of life (and thats particularly apt as Stuart works as an electrician on the Lion King production in London). The family are the talk of the town at the moment!
Got all the kids off to school complete with PE kits, lunch and brains (see blog 157) and it was lovely and quiet in the house. I was washed and dressed and ready for my daily walk to Tesco's but couldn't find my mobile (Tony would go ballastic if I left the house without it, its his form of electronic tagging) so I grab the home phone and ring it.....I walked from the kitchen to lounge following the sound only to find it in the front pocket on my hoody that I am wearing!!! I had checked my trouser pockets before I tried calling myself but not my top - I am now convinced that hoodies really are the root of all evil. Came home from Tesco's and did some washing and washing up. Spent a bit of time in the garden with the dogs (after clearing the poop trail - thanks Ollie!)and weeded my new grassy border - bloomin weeds grow faster than my plants!!!!! Had lunch of a tuna & mayo in a granary bap and a cup of tea whilst watching some Aussie soaps (sad I know but hey, what else am I to do lol). Then get a phonecall from a friend who is job hunting, she currently works in a different pre-school to where I worked, but she has had her fill of snotty noses and pooey bums. She came round last week with the local paper and we went through the job section and weeded out a few she'd like to apply for - bless her she is completely dizzy but a very loyal friend and dependable in a crisis. Today she is moaning she hasn't heard from a few and I go online and print off the internet available ones as she doesn't have a printer.....I will be submitting my bill for being a personal careers advisor when she gets a new job LOL
By this time the kids are home from school and I won't go as far as to say we have a conversation about school, because the boys are not exactly forthcoming...."alright" is their box standard answer to most things! Lara on the other hand is quite happy to recount her entire day!!!!!Tony is working late (yes there is still overtime thank goodness) so the first sitting of Cafe Perry is for breaded cod, veggies and curly fries for the kids. Around 7pm Tony comes home and we sit down to a classic chicken caesar salad, romaine lettuce, anchovies (you won't believe how long it took my brain to access that word, all I could think of was artichokes!)parmesan flakes and croutons.....I added finely diced crispy pan-friend pancetta pieces - very nice they were too!
Spent the rest of the evening snuggled up next to hubby on the sofa watching tv and ashamedly eating Giant Chocolate Buttons - I am not a choccy/sweet type person except around that time of the month.....which in view of the fact I am back at the oncologists to pick up my chemo on Friday, would lead me to believe I am about to go into pysco mum mode for a few days before Mother Nature pays a call - she really is a b*tch sometimes, to make it co-incide with four cycles of chemo....just plain mean!
Thought for the day:
... without darkness nothing comes to birth, as without light, nothing flowers.
