Debs Daily Deliberations 136

5 minute read time.
Morning All, Well yesterday started with intermittant internet......so I did what they tell you to do if you ring up, restart the modem.......after which internet was non-existant. Spend around 20mins on the phone for them to finally agree the fault was their end and I need an engineer.....who couldn't come till Wednesday morning. So now what???? Laundry done.......washing up done.......why is daytime TV so awful???? ending up watching a programme about a zoo vet! It was soon lunchtime and a nice sarnie of cheese and coleslaw has set me up for my bus adventure with Jack. We walk the 15mins to the where we need to get the bus to Epping from, leaving very early as I have absolutely no idea how often the buses run or how long they take. The first was a very old battered double decker bus, I ask if he is going through Epping High Road....he says yes and on we get. The smell instantly takes me back to my childhood, my dad was a bus driver all his life, starting with London Transport and then various companies in Loughton until they moved to Walton On Naze. During the school holidays we would ride the buses with dad, getting to sit upstairs sometimes - wohoooooo lol My sisters and I loved it, can't imagine my kids thinking the same about 6 or 7 trips to Walthamstow and back or Ilford and back!!!!!!!! Anyway, I go to pay and say Jack is 15....£2.60 for you and £1.00 for the lad - wow excellent value, we arrive in Epping over an hour early, go into the hi-tech orthodontists and the waiting room is heaving........check in but say we will go out for a walk first. We get almost to the end when the heavens open, Jack puts up the hood of his hoodie (great I am out with a thug now lol) and I can't be asked getting a brolly out of my bag as I am wearing a hat anyway. We shuffle down the road and find a shop with a canopy......a jewellers, oh look Jack they do Trollbeads....I easily pass the time "pretend shopping" and I think I was up to about £280 pounds worth of beads by the time the rain stopped LOL There is a grandma and little girl of around 5 also standing under the canopy - do they know I worked in a pre-school, this spoilt obnoxious child starts telling us how she has a DSi, the newest most bestest DS there is, she has loads of games too......inbetween picking her nose and wailing "I want a drink, I am thirsty" lovely!!!!!! Rain stops and we grab a bottle of water each from M&S - not just water you know...M&S water ;) and head back to the ortho's. They have Sky News on the big flatscreen TV when we sit down, I feel the radiator and its on!!!!!!!!!! finally one of the receptionists comes along and puts the aircon on - might be cheaper to just turn the bloody central heating off eh? We sit for around 10mins watching how Michael Jackson's death is now considered "homicide" and watch them explain the cocktail of drugs he has taken.......then the news moves on to the homecoming of the African athlete that the IOC want gender testing done on..........I am staring at the screen but losing the will to live lol Jack goes in......(parents not allowed at this practice) and then the receptionist comes over to tell me there has been a mix up with his appointment, only a 10mins adjustment booked and he won't be able to have his top braces fitted........."he had his top braces fitted in May, this was to have the bottom ones done"......oh what are they doing to my baby in there lol, she goes off and checks and comes back to agree with me.....they will just adjust the top brace and make a new appointment for the bottom brace. Jack was all pysched up for this and now he has to wait until October 19th!!!!!! Of course, we are now out of the ortho's at 3.25pm and were supposed to be waiting for Tony to pick us up, but he doesn't finish work until 4pm and then has to drive to Epping....Jack begs me to take the bus back, so off we go to the bus stop. A much newer shiny low floor bus arrives, I ask for two tickets and say that Jack is 15......thats £3.30 each....£6.60, next time I will look out for the knackered smelly double decker bus, much more reasonable. Anyway back home at 3.50pm and Jack disappears back into his bedroom. I hadn't done my Tesco's run today, the walk to and from the bus stop and around Epping had me pooped, so I went once Tony got home. Roast Belly of Pork with cracked black pepper, new potato's, spinach, carrots and broccoli......but after I had eaten I barely had the strength to make it to the sofa, I felt really really tired and I was supposed to be going to the pub with two ex-work colleagues....so I had to text and get out of that!! Tony went off to karate and Lara and I sat and went through some of our recorded programmes, we have a V+ box and were down to our last 19 hours! there was stuff on there from last Christmas, we watched a few bits and deleted a lot.....think we have 51 hours spare now. Virgin are having national email problems, I have 3 accounts, 2 are working fine but my main one wont connect.......its been out since Monday morning which means by the time they fix it, I will be getting "your account is reaching the high watermark level" or I will have to delete stuff to access the rest..........grrrrrrrrrr In bed by 11pm last night shattered again! Bloodtest tomorrow.........more vein finding fun for me, if they start smacking me.....I might smack back LOL I woke to the news that Senator Edward Kennedy has died of his brain tumour........encouraging!! Thought for yesterday: Flatter me, and I may not believe you. Criticize me, and I may not like you. Ignore me, and I may not forgive you. Encourage me, and I will not forget you. Love me and I may be forced to love you. William Arthur Ward

Hope blood test goes well and they find the little bu**ers! Back of the hand sounds painful, tho. Think I'd rather give them the best of three shots in my arm than that :)

Queens hospital seem to be better at finding a vein than my GP surgery.......although it wasn't encouraging when the radiologist and nurse couldn't get one after much smacking (don't they know it was banned lol) on 3rd August and resorted to back of hand, I still have a "lump" which you can feel under the skin and is sore to the touch from that adventure, although they were pumping in, not extracting!!

My neuro-oncology nurse said I would be better coming to the chemo-unit as they take blood but only between 7.30am and midday.......which means hubby having to take more time off work, its a 50min drive over.....at the normal blood unit he can work his lunch leave an hour early and shoot straight over.

But....it might come to it though, at least in the chemo unit they are used to "crap veins".

I've had my arm garotted(!), been left to stew in water and been given a nice blanket to wrap my arm in but I've never been smacked! They'll get it from you somehow - vampires the lot of 'em :)

I know quite a few people who would benefit from a good smacking, some of them would even PAY good money for it. The NHS is missing out on an opportunity here.  lol
