Debs Daily Deliberations 111

4 minute read time.
Evening All, Ollie had me up at 5.30am......this seems to be his "comfort stop" time, after which he comes in, curls up and sleeps till the kids get up!!! Anyway, hubby and I share a cuppa before he goes to work and next thing I know its 8am and bugger.....I need to get Lara up for summer school. Cook a part-baked baguette and it just about cools before I have to make and pack it for her lunch, quickly find a container as she is doing cooking today. 8.30am and the phone rings....I hear Lara saying "she's not here right now......" I ask who it is and she says the hospital, I grab the phone and its the sister from oncology. Aparently the love-child of Hitler did NOT fax through my bloods, I am getting really p'd off not to mention stressed, sister is saying if we can't get written evidence of your neutraphyls? I will have to go over and have a rush blood test and sit and wait for the 50mins it will take for the results to come through.......noooooooooo, not another bruise please. I frantically think, "what if I get the print out from the GP's and fax it myself?" that would be fine - why am I saying this, where will I find a fax machine!!!!!! Anyway sister will do her bit from that end and I will try again from mine! This time I telephone Princess Alexandra's switchboard and start babbling my life story - ok the story of my bloods and why I need the results sending to Queens, she puts me through to their oncology department who are very understanding and say they have no problem faxing the blood results and I actually hear the printer going in the background. An hour later I phone oncology in Queens and nope....no fax, I am beginning to wonder if the fax number is right!!!!! I put the phone down exasperated and wondering where to turn next......who would have thought a simple blood test result would cause SO MUCH aggro. Anyway Sister double barrel surname phones me back and says that my oncologists registrar (who I have seen a few times, nice guy - doesn't get my sense of humour and I think might actually be scared of me LOL) has been on the case all morning and got the results through - wohooooooooo Shaka my man! Sister double barrel surname then says "doctor is here and wants to have a word and make sure you are ok and dont need Fridays appointment"..........I chat to Shaka, try and joke and I hear his nervous laughter (I think he guesses when to laugh at varying intervals) and he agree's to add some 0.5mg steroids to the prescription as Kim my SNON agreed I could lower the dose to 1mg this week and then 0.5mg next week, trouble is - my steroids are 2mg tablets and tiny, you couldn't possibly cut them any smaller! He also tells me he will pop in a blood form for next month and rearrange my appointment. Three whole days to get blood results from a GP surgery near Old Harlow to Queens Hospital all in the same County! Whats that us patients are constantly being told, DON'T GET STRESSED - who are they kidding, I was positively near boiling point this morning but by lunch had returned to simmering. So I did what do best and hit the kitchen and started preparing tonights dinner, Beef Arabiatta Pasta Bake for the boys with a Veggie alternative for me, I am not a vegetarian but have reduced my red meat intake and occassionally have a hankering for veggies. I did Sean a spag bol and Lara was having fresh pasta with pesto.....yes folks 4 different dinners for a family of 5. My dad would have a head fit, in our house it was one meal and if you didn't like it - go hungry! But I like cooking and it beats doing housework ;) I popped the recipes on Debs Dinner Dishes for those interested. I have also booked our table at Flutes a tapas bar in Stansted Mountfitchet for our anniversary lunch. We had a little chat about whether we wanted to go out for lunch or dinner, we both agreed that we prefer lunch, as we tend to eat far too much at dinner and then just want to come home and sleep! So this Saturday at 1pm we should be tucking into one of our favourite cuisines, never been here before but really hope its as good as it looks. Jack and Tony are taking karate classes for the chief instructor, who is in Spain for the annual blackbelt grading, Sean has just gone out to play football, Lara is watching a holiday programme about a "orient express" style train in Maylasia and how she would like to do that........best she starts saving LOL I am waiting for my sister to get home (we live at #26 and she lives at #111) as we are going out for a coffee tonight. A skinny Latte for me as I am gaining weight at a fast rate lately! See you tomorrow folks. Thought for today: When people are laughing, they're generally not killing each other. Alan Alda

You're amazing.  I get cross if I have a hold up of a few hours when I'm at the hospital, which fortunately I'm not this week.  I'm on a diet which actually means that for the first time in my life I'm really cooking quite creatively instead of eating whatever comes to hand when I'm hungry.  But I love eating out too.

Love the blogs, but you already know that!!

    lots of love, Marl
