Back Home after successful Op !!!

2 minute read time.

Well went in 13th, into theatre admissions, got my gown on, my sexy socks, weighed and interrogated with lots of questions, then the specialist come to see me at 8.50, was having a chat, answering questions i had, then a nice young nurse brought in a laminated slip saying NO BEDS AVAILABLE, PLEASE CHECK WITH WARD BEFORE OPERATION COMMENCES !   Whoops he blew a stack and I was sat opposite the nurses station and heard it all, "i am supposed to be scrubbing up and starting op in 10 minutes, whoops he was so mad, I didnt know whether to be pleased or not, i didnt want to go down to theatre anyway :-)  but to go through the build up again is not so good either, :-(     So after 10 minutes of him sorting a bed on my favoured ward, he turfed a poor lady out of the bed that was promised to me and hey presto, I walk the walk to the theatre, (you would think they would push you in a wheelchair especially with the gowns showing your bum and you legs feeling like jelly as you are scared stiff).  So they decided to tell me I am having a epidural and anaesthetic, i dont care whichever way just as long as i dont feel anything !  cos am i pansy.  Well my legs went all warm and i was laid flat while he put the knock out drops into my small veins (they small like me apparently), as i was thinking "i thought they would check to see if i was numb ?" anyway didnt have to think any more, the black cloud arrived.

Woke up earlier than expected, and to good news all went well and quicker than they thought.  Grrrrrreat !!   He then told me back on the ward that they had cut my bladder from the front - top to bottom opened it out like a piece of fruit and repaired the hole at the back of the bladder, put a stent in my ureter to hold it up and repaired the other hole, stiched me back up, now have two catheters, on two little handbags (well alright stands) which i have to carry round for the next 3 weeks, then go back in for cystagram and removal of catheters which involves a further stay in hospital.   But by then i should be all finished.  Just have to train my bladder to work after that.

Got home last night snuggled up in bed and finally the dam broke, yes i finally cried, Steve wondered what was wrong with me, thought i was in pain, i wasnt it just hit me like a brick , its over, i have crossed the finishing line.  Just check ups for 5 years now and hopefully they will be all clear.
