Chemo update: this is my last session for a while.
The side effects this past week have not been nice. Apart from an odd rash on my hand, and, I've discovered, under my dressing, my mouth has felt as though I've gargled with boiling water. Result was an almost complete inability to eat solids then the subsequent weight loss.
Got some mouth wash, bonjela, antiseptic lozenges etc that seem to have calmed it a bit.
Then the steroids seem to have revived my appetite.
The doctor is coming to look at my hand and mouth and I'll get some prescribed mouthwash from him. Probably thrush.
So, it seems the PICC line stays in for now and I'll be getting visits from the District Nurse to take blood and change dressings. Then in about 4 weeks it be another CT scan to see how much the chemo has shrunk the cancer.
Then decisions about surgery.
It will be a relief to be drug-free for a while, eat normally, get some exercise. Breathe.
