Update... the PET scan that picks up the slightest abnormality revealed problems with a lymph node in my neck and something in my bowel. Both require investigation to eliminate anything serious. So, an ultrascan and needle in the neck for taking a sample and a colonoscopy at the other end to check that out. Meanwhile I have a cardiopulminary exercise test today to determine my fitness to undergo chemo and surgery.
Even with all the tests they still want to do the keyhole surgery to confirm the extent of the cancer.
Not wanting to miss out on testing me my GP has had me taking my blood pressure twice in the morning, twice in the evening for 6 days to check I don't have hypertension - at an average 118/73 I don't.
The hospital dietician called a few days ago to basically tell me to stuff myself with fat and protien. I had lost about 4 kg but then put 1.5kg back on.
I did wonder, if my blood pressure had been high, whether the dietary advice from my GP and the hospital would be in conflict.
I am assured that cancer treatment at Derby Royal is (as yet) unaffected by the coronavirus emergency.
I am in awe of the care, attention to detail and downright professionalism and humanity of all the NHS staff who have been involved in my case thus far. Every conversation and interaction feels like a whole bunch of cuddles.
