Can't believe a fortnight has gone by since my last post - the time is certainly flying by.
We went on another coach trip last Tuesday to two lovely gardens on the Kent/Sussex border (a tulip festival) which Dad thoroughly enjoyed. The weather was good to us again and the sun shone, the second garden had a few gravel/hilly paths but I managed most of them pushing the wheelchair - Dad did have to get out on a couple of occasions.
The last couple of Wednesdays we have gone to do the coffee at the allotments and then gone on to the Hospice for Dads "Breathing class" where they are showing him relaxation techniques and positions to find it easier to breath. Last week we had to fit in a visit to the dentist to get his tooth removed which came out a lot easier than I thought, luckily, so we had a very busy day. It was healing fine until Dad forgot and brushed it the other morning and had to start all over again with the mouth washes etc.
Last Thursday we went out to lunch as it was Mums birthday, had a lovely day.
The occupational health lady came round on Friday to show Dad how to use the equipment, bath seats etc. which was helpful. Its good to have the things there ready for when Dad needs them as he insists he doesn't need some of them yet even though we disagree and keep telling him it would make his life easier! In the afternoon my sister came down from Norfolk and my Mums cousin and her husband came to visit too.
On Sunday my other sister came from Oxford and took Mum & Dad into town to see his favourite local jazz band that was playing - luckily the rain stayed away but it was a bit cold so Dad had the wheelchair coverall on for the first time which he found quite cosy!
The Hospice nurse popped in on Tuesday as Dad had been waking up with palpitations in the night and having trouble with his throat etc. She advised us to take him to the Drs just to get him checked out which we did on Friday, he checked his heart, throat and lungs - everything ok at the moment, think Dad is worrying himself but it must be horrible waiting for the next thing.
On Thursday we went up to Richmond Park and walked around Isabella Plantation which is one of Dads favourite places this time of year with all the azaleas and rhododendrons out. Now I have the blue badge I can park right next to the back gates which is a lot easier with the wheelchair.
Took Dad to his prayer meeting on Friday which he finds comforting.
This weekend I've been catching up on my housework etc before going to stay for a week at Mum & Dads again as Mum is having her treatment every day for a week. Mums treatment seems to come round quite quickly and she is getting tired and breathless at the moment (she has multi focal motor neuropathy).
Anyway have a good week all and hope the sun returns soon.
