Back from a lovely week in Bournemouth

1 minute read time.

Last week Mum, Dad and I went on a coach holiday to Bournemouth with some of his gardening friends (one we didn't think Dad would be well enough to go on when he insisted we booked it!).  We were so lucky that the sun shone nearly everyday and the scenery was beautiful. We went out each day and stopped off at different places.  On Wednesday we stayed at the hotel and Dad's sister came to see him which was quite emotional.  Afterwards I took him down to the seafront and we had a lovely walk (him in the wheelchair), he has a lot of lovely family memories of Bournemouth as he lived there for a while and his parents ashes were both scattered in the gardens around the Pavilion ballroom where they used to go and dance.

Mum  had a cold the week before we went and Dad caught it whilst we were there but luckily he didn't get a full blown one as I was very worried as to how he would've coped.  He also had a lot of little nose bleeds which make him panic and he is getting quite argumentative now too.  He did say to me a couple of days into the holiday that he thought this would be his last holiday as he doesn't find it enjoyable anymore, I think he was very tired as he was not getting his daytime sleeps in and the getting in and out of the coach several times a day sapped him of energy.  Also the sitting on the coach was a bit uncomfortable but luckily I took his special cushion that helped his bony bum a bit!  Also he couldn't manage some of the food at the hotel as Mum had been mashing things up at home but luckily they usually had a soup that he could eat, otherwise he would try but usually end up coughing it back up.

Since we got back he has been sleeping a lot and doesn't have a lot of energy.

We are now aiming for Christmas :)

    Hi Alimor.

Glad you and your Family managed to get down to Bournemouth with your Dad. It seems to have taken a bit out of him but he will soon recover after a few days rest. It must have been nice for him to see his sister. You look after yourself.

Take care and be safe Big Hugs Love Sarsfield.xx

  • Sounds like you made some precious memories. Embrace them and you dad.

Thank you all so much, it was lovely.  Mum isn't able to push Dad's wheelchair which is why I went with them and I am so glad I did.  I can't believe that it is nearly November and will soon be time for Dad to see the consultant again.  He is doing so well but it is starting to get to him now, but he tries to keep a smile on his face.

    Take care of yourselves xx
