Getting really fed up now. Why do doctors play on peoples emotions? Do they understand that patients are people who are ill, rather than slabs of meat they can play with like toys?
I wanted to write a blog on how well my dad was doing following his operation, however that is not the case. First we played the hocky cocky - you can go home tomorrow - now you are staying in - you can go home - no your staying in - out - in - out - in. Don't worry we have the shake it all about as his stoma bag keeps exploding everywhere at least 2-3 times a day!
Apparently he has an over active stoma which is why it keeps exploding. He has 2 teams of doctors looking after his treatment, one team did the surgery and say he can go home, they other team deal with how the stoma works and want to keep him in because of his Kidney function.
You get told one thing by one lot of doctors, another by the other lot of doctors and the Stoma nurse team give you snippets to fill in the gaps!
He did manage to get home one Saturday, having been realisewd by the surgical team, but was recalled on the Tuesday by the other team. Told to come into hospital there is a bed for him he arrived and was put into a waiting room for 4 hours with no food or drink offered, this did not go down well as he is supposed to be eating and drinking continuously. Eventually he was given a bed and put on a drip, supposedly for 24 hours. However 24 turns into 48 turns into days turns into 2 weeks, at which point we ask why is he still being kept in hospital. No-one knows and he is sent home! Home for a week and then recalled back to hospital! This time when they tell my mum and dad to wait in the waiting room, the refuse and sit at the nurses station. They are given a bed after 20 mins.
They are now playing musical bumps, with my dad providing the music in the form of a wail! You are going down for surgery tomorrow so don't eat from midnight, 10am the following morning sorry your staying up. You are going down for surgery tomorrow so don't eat from midnight, 10am the following morning sorry your staying up.
No reason given for why they have decided to change it, but then we are just the patient!
They have said he will have the reversal operation by the end of the week, is this a threat or a promise? We will have to wait and see.
If their plan was to turn my parents into emotional wreks then they have succeeded with an A**.
