Welcome back!

2 minute read time.

Welcome back to the Online Community!

The new platform is now live, and we’re so happy to share it with you. So please take a look around!

The site looks and feels different, but all your groups and content remain the same. When you log in for the first time, you will be prompted to reset your password for security purposes. Once you’ve reset your password, you’ll be able to log in, explore content and post as normal.

If you’d like to find out more about why this upgrade has taken place, please take a look at our blog here.

Highlights

  • Bookmarks – you’ll now be able to “bookmark” and easily access specific discussion threads, groups or blogs
  • Better search feature – searching for content on the site will now work more smoothly, helping you to get to the content you need quicker
  • Uploading pictures will be much easier on any device, and should work without any glitches
  • Clean and bright appearance making content easy to read and accessible on any device

This is just the beginning. We’ll continue to develop and grow the Community, and the new platform will give us and our users some great opportunities to improve the site moving forwards.

If you’re not sure about how to use the new site, please take a look at our Help section here. You can also read our Frequently Asked Questions about the new site here. The Community team are also here to help with any technical problems at community@macmillan.org.uk.

Known error – Getting logged out

We’re aware of an issue where some members are getting logged out of the site. Please rest assured that your content should still be there when you log back in, even an unfinished post, and that we are working to resolve this issue.

Known error – “The current user is already registered in Online Community platform.”

Some of our members are receiving an error message which reads “The current user is already registered in Online Community platform” when they try to log in after resetting their password. We are aware this is an issue, and we are working to resolve this as soon as we can.

If you’re experiencing this issue, you can try to resolve this first by updating your internet settings. To do this, clear your cookies and browser history (you can choose to save stored passwords). If you need help with this, there’s some more information in the following links:

If you haven’t already, you can follow this link to reset your password.

Your My Macmillan account is now one log in, for all our online services. You can find out more here.

Do you have any feedback?

Let us know what you think about the new site using this online form. Thank you for being part of our Community and coming on this journey with us. We hope you’ll find the new platform helpful, and you’ll continue to find support and kindness when you need it most.

  • I am sorry but I am totally lost!

  • Can I ask why when I turn notifications OFF do they seem to switch back on each time I return to the same thread?
I turn them off as I am part of a busy thread and I don’t need to be informed EVERY time someone has replied to me, because half the time they are just replying to the thread in general but might of replied to me as I was the last to post! If that makes sense!

  • It is a total mess!  Before when I logged onto My Macmillan I could come straight into the forums.  Now I need anther account and I'm just not going to waste my time logging in twice.   Also I don't think it is particularly intuitive finding the posts and comment I want to read.  A long way to go before it is usable, but only a short way to go before people give up.

  • Hello everyone,

I’m Eliza from the Community team, I’m sorry to hear you’re having trouble using the new site. We can really appreciate how frustrating technical issues can be. We know that sometimes these changes can cause issues, but long term they will help to provide a more stable and better functioning site for everyone. We know how invaluable the Community is for our members and we’re doing our best to resolve any technical problems quickly.

     – The site does look and feel quite different, but please rest assured that the site functions very similarly to the previous platform. You might find it helpful to take a look at our Help section and our Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ). Our Help section includes step-by-step guides on how to use the site, and our FAQ explains all the changes to the site. Please remember as well, the Community team are here to help with any questions at community@macmillan.org.uk.

    – I’m sorry to hear you’re having trouble with your notifications. Would you be able to send us an email to community@macmillan.org.uk. explaining what’s happening in a bit more detail if possible? It would help us to know what device and browser you’re using. You can also find out how to double check your notification settings here in our Help section.

    – All our members have needed to reset their password for security purposes, but nothing else should change about your account and you should be able to use the same one to access the site. We have some further information about logging in here in our FAQs. You can also read a step by step guide on using groups and posting in discussions here in our Help section. Please do get in touch with us at community@macmillan.org.uk if you’re experiencing any technical problems.

    Take care,

    Eliza

    Macmillan Community team

  • At the moment I am struggling to find the threads etc I used to use. Can we no longer eavesdrop on other groups?
