Help us shape the Online Community

Here on Macmillan's Community, we want to make sure our online space grows and develops in line with what our members want and need. That's why we're reaching out to you, our valued Community, to share your thoughts and ideas.

Below we have a few polls asking for your vote on how you'd like to see our digital space develop and grow. We would love for as many members as possible to take this opportunity to actively contribute to the future of our Community.

Your thoughts and ideas hold immense value which is why we want to hear from you. By sharing your vote with us, you're playing a vital role in helping us shape the Community and helping others get the most from the site.

More ideas? Why not share them in the comments section below. We'd love to hear from you!

  • Sorry hit the wrong button !  This is a good idea . Not sure of the lighthearted theme though ?

  • Thanks for sharing your thoughts  . I remember that particular thread where Big Pete would post jokes on a Friday morning, they were always brilliant jokes.

    I completely understand where you're coming from - that's good to know so thank you for sharing that with us and taking the time to respond here.

  • Hey  , I'm sorry to hear you've found the site a little tricky to navigate. We know it's something we need to work on and we've had similar feedback from other members too.

    It's something we're working on currently. It's good to know specifically where you find the site harder to navigate - getting to your own posts an answers, and this has come up a few times. Rest assured it's something we are looking at.

    In the mean time, I wondered if the bookmarking feature or subscribing to notifications from your thread might be helpful. When you're in the thread you're a part of, you should see some options on the right hand side (if you're on desktop) to 'bookmark' or 'subscribe' to notifications:

    If you turn on the notifications, you'll receive an email when someone replies to you - it will come with a link to the thread so you can always get back to the thread. Or, if you bookmark it, it will save the forum thread in your bookmarks so you can quickly link to the thread.

    Best wishes,
    Ellen

  • Hi  ,

    Thanks for your feedback. Members are welcome to discuss alternative therapies on the Online Community if they'd like to. We do have some Community Guidelines  around this though. In short:

    When discussing alternative and complementary therapies, you may:

    • Provide anecdotal accounts about alternative therapy use, as long as you do not make claims about their effects.
    • Advocate the use of complementary therapies alongside conventional treatment.
    • Make evidence-based claims about the effectiveness of complementary therapies in improving quality of life.

    When discussing alternative therapies, please do not:

    • Advocate the use of any alternative therapy or for using any complementary therapy as an alternative to conventional treatment;
    • Claim that any alternative or complementary therapy can cure cancer, reduce the size of tumours or in any way treat cancer;
    • Advise anyone to ignore medical experts’ advice on the use of any treatment whatsoever.
    • Promote any alternative therapy.
    • Advertise any alternative or complementary therapy for commercial gain (commercial solicitation of any kind goes against our Community Guidelines).

    I hope this helps and that you're finding the Community to be a place of support and kindness.

    Best wishes,

    Ellen

  • Thanks  for sharing this with us - it's a great idea! We'll keep this in mind when we're thinking about what new content we want to create, and what would be most useful for our members.

    I'm just tagging   here as well, to ensure we've got this covered Slight smile
