    Hi there,

So sorry to hear about your dad. It is so hard for any of us to say without a proper medical diagnosis- we are not doctors and it just becomes speculation...Depending on the cancer and organs involved, they can give chemotherapy  and/or radiotherapy to help slow growths and tackle pain etc. It is not usually classed as curable at that stage, but treatable and some people can live for a good many years with stage 4 spread.  There are so many unknowns though and a liver can have one tiny spot on it or many large tumours... all with different treatments and outcomes so I can't really give you answer.

The doctors will do everything they can for you dad and try not to speculate too much until you have the results in and they can tell you what is what.

You can phone the free advice line on 0800 808 0000 weekdays and they can talk you through things and you can also join the bowel cancer group and talk to people in there. Some of whom are also stage 4 I know.

There are some lovely people also in the carers and relatives group who can give you support and advice too.

    Wishing you well

    Little My

That's what we are all here for, one big family to help each other out....

Do give the advice line a call and there is also the chat room if you like that instant chat.

Let us know the results and do join the carers group in particular. They all understand what you are going through.
