I celebrated my 70th (Monday 20th) with my walking group today. with a good portion of Chocolate and fresh cream sponge I brought for the occasion. Ya gotta replace energy used I even took some back home for My Good Lady, there were 3 slices left over. The walk was very good, a mix of newly laid footpaths, a narrow pathway through woodland, muddy in places, and the not so enjoyable pavement pounding by some busy roads. Flat, fairly steep inclines, in all a good mix (but for the traffic noise).
The walk lasted 1 hour, which is the set time for most "Walking for Health" walks. The link takes you to a 'walk finder' in your area, should you feel inclined.
Don't let the though of your cancer put you off walking. You will feel the benefit after a walk or two, your immune system gets a boost, which can't be bad, your blood flow also improves, the social side which is very important, speaks for itself.
Walking for health is supported (funded as well by Macmillan, if memory serves) also the Ramblers association I think do the admin.
Note to administrators: If I am wrong, please amend.
The image below was taken by Paul Glendell (C) for Natural England Walking for health. That is me in the front. I think the numbers were very low 5/18 that day because some read most walkers did not want to appear in any images.
