The end

Less than one minute read time.

As you may have guessed by my lack of posting, Claudette passed away in the hospice on Thursday last. She had a walking frame and ripple mattress delivered, but was unable to use either as she could not lift herself up from the chair. On Tuesday it was decided that she would go into the hospice on Wednesday, her hairdresser came in the evening and cut her hair, followed by two nurses who washed her.

We stayed the last night together, but by the morning I couldn't handle things, so it was fortunate she went into the hospice. Whilst I think she was aware, she couldn't say anything.

On Thursday, she had a number of visitors, neighbours, family and her priest. she was washed and made comfortable at 5 pm, and with a final gasp of breath died just before 6 pm. Thankfully a peaceful death after a long struggle.

I am so sorry to hear of your sad loss.  I lost my husband Martin, on 23rd September and know what you are going through.  People are so kind, but at the end of the day it is just you to cope with the loss.  But I firmly believe that we will get through this.  Just spend your due time grieving, we need that.  Each day, one step at a time. If you need to talk I am here.

    May god give you strength.

I am so, so sorry to hear about Claudette, although I am glad she died peacefully. This is such a hard time for you but please remember that you did everything to make her comfortable and show how much she was loved. I hope friends and family will support you through the days and months ahead but please remember that we are here for you whenever you need us.

               Take care,

                   Lots of love
