Sorry to hear the news about your wife. I'm maybe not a very positive example, but I can say that it is now 20 years since my primary melanoma was excised, and 5 years since I had lymph nodes excised, so Melanoma, even if it does come back, can be very slow moving. So, once you have got over reeling from the shock, try to get on with your life and enjoy it. And the stats are quite good for one lymph node, so another reason to try and be positive about it as far as you can. My "story" is under my blogs, called something like "20 years" if you want to know a bit more, or pm me if you like.

All the best for you and your wife. There will be many cases where people have one or two lymph nodes excised, no further treatment, and are fine many years on. But most of these will no longer come to a support site, so the examples you see may be skewed to those with further recurrence (or who like the chat room!)

JUST and update on my wife.

A recent scan has given us a boost. We insisted on a full body scan and the oncologist agreed because of the effect this has had on her emotionally. The results were good and didn't show any cancer which was a releif to us both. It has given us both optimism and hope for the future.

I'm so pleased that your wife's scan showed that she is cancer free.  I know from experience the boost it gives you.  You actually feel that you are in a better situation than those who have never been diagnosed with cancer because at that point in time you know that you are disease free.

Good luck and enjoy your life.
