Cancer Care Cymru!

Less than one minute read time.

Just read a report on our local news to say that Cancer Care Cymru, our local based charity, have now run out of cash.  The Specialist Nurses that have been appointed to patients in our Cancer Hospital at Velindre, Nr Cardiff  and Royal Glamorgan Hospital, Llantrisant, for the last few years, finally finished today.

Peter and I are so sorry to hear this and will miss our allocated Specialist Nurse Jane Humphries.  We'd like to thank her for all her support since his diagnosis a year ago.  We don't know how we would have got through this year without her help.

We know that Macmillan is always there for us but losing this other support will now put more strain on them.

I wish I could wave a magic wand and spell a whole load of cash into all the charities but I can't!

That's bad news. I presume that it will have an effect on our Cancer Centre in Glan Clwyd Hospital. I'm going there on Tuesday so will soon find out.

    Hi Angela

I presume so, the Specialist Nurses were so helpful, it was good to ask them to explain things once the Onc had left the room.  I will miss the supply of tissues too!!  Jane helped Peter and I through quite a lot.  I know Macmillan are there still but it is just that Jane was there with us when Peter had the dreaded diagnosis a year ago so we had got used to her being around.  Hey ho!

When we get home from our short break next week the Macmillan Nurse will be coming to see us, I think we need someone to talk too at the moment.  It is  very difficult to give support to him when we were both in the room when the Doc came out with the 'poor prognosis' statement.  How can you put a good spin on that sort of news?

    Speak next week.  Take care.
