My first chemo is over, too.

Less than one minute read time.
The first chemo wasn't so bad. Although I am having some neuropathy already in my feet and fingertips and I have become so allergic to things!! I put cream on my feet and developed a rash! I am allergic to tape! What's next?? Could be worse so I am grateful for what is not worse. My boyfriend is feeling overwhelmed already. We are going to have a tough time together, if we make it. I have been knitting socks to keep my feet warm and think, "Sock it to cancer" with each pair I make. What a disgusting entity cancer is. I don't want it to consume my waking moments and so far it mostly is...we shall see...hugs to you all.

Hi there ........ yep you can have some unexpected side effects I too had increased allergies so went to using nartural soaps, creams, non-biological washing powder.  Also at my 3rd chemo I developed hives but they just gave me piriton through the drip and did that at the start of the last three chemo's so had no more problems.  Despite unexpected things like that I got through it all and have now finished just waiting for a scan to check out the damage :).  I've got used to giving myself nightly injections of fragmin to stop clots and am able to deal with the restless legs by elevating my feet with an extra pillow, I have even got used to sleeping sitting almopst upright with a triangular pillow and three other pillows, I suffer from shortness of breath due to part of one lung collapsing cos of the pressure of the fluid build. It's whole change of life but a managable one.  There is a light at the end of the tunnel ..... and you will get through it :).  Sending loadsa healing ang loving thoughts your way.

    Hi Wendy,

I have the hives, the injections and the sitting up just like you for the very same reasons.  I asked for a hospital bed so at least I could be a little more comfy  on the bottom while the top of me was upright!  I was sleeping over my desk with lots of pillows or over my kitchen table which is the right height.  Do you get your lungs tapped for fluid?  I have been having a thoracentesis about once a week...one on left, one on right, alternating to keep me a wee bit more comfy and able to at least shower without feeling like my breath will give out.  See if you qualify for the bed...it may help, even when you are sitting bolt upright as we do to try to sleep.  GOOD LUCK ON YOUR SCAN!!!!  Sometimes I use extra strength Tylenol for my legs which seems to quiet them long enough for me to fall asleep.  Big tight hug for you...again...good luck...my fingers are crossed...
