my husband had bowel cancer operation which seem seemed successful but told at 6 weeks checkup there was a mark on the liver we are now waiting to see another consultant, this is such a blow any help on this please.

Yes, it is a setback, but "a mark" doesn't sound too bad. I had a couple of stray cancer cells after my hemicolectomy, and had chemo, and am very glad I did. It is worth it to go for it if you can.
In the meantime, just go out, get away, if only for the day, and enjoy yourselves. Don't even think about it until you see the new consultant. Then all will be revealed. One thing at a time is the most useful strategy.
You face the worst, but then forget it because it may never happen.
