Caring for Mimi

2 minute read time.

Mimi first presented symptoms of OV cancer in late 2012, our GP just kept telling her "your 50 so your on the change" she was bloated and on her period almost all time, I guess thats why they say life is a rollercoaster? In mid  2013 I finaly got paid out for an RTA which happened in 2007, I have tendon and nerve damage in my right arm. after sending me for a medical review the defence declined to produce the report from their own medical expert so that left the door wide open and I got much more than I expected. So we were on a bit of a high, for years I had been making overpayments on our house, Not did the settlement pay off the house but left us with a good lump sum. We felt this was Karma as Mimi had been knocked down in a hit and run shortly after my accident and this left her disabled, we had to have a wet room fitted as she could no longer climb into a bath etc. Then in Dec 2013 she had breathing problems, in the next few days they took 8ltrs of fluid of her lungs (she has suffered from asthma in the past and saw the asthma nurse only 4 days before, but she did not spot her lungs were full of fluid)  This is where I get peed off, I'm a train driver If I go past a red signal (yes I made a mistake, but no one died) I get removed from my job. I have HMRI crawling all over me and may not get my job back, the GPs just shrug and move on. Anyway a scan reviled tumours on her womb. a 20cm x15cm on her bowel and a noduel in her lung cavaty. Since it was discovered her prognossis has gone down from 8 years to 9 months to 3 years. So I guess I'm pretty angry. Mimi wants to do a MN claim and we are awaiting for a medical expert to go through her medical notes to see if we have a claim? Her GP should have followed NICE guidlines issued in 2011 which state anyone presenting OV cancer symptoms should have a CA125 blood test. A healthy woman should have a count under 35, when Mimi finaly had this done it was around 6000, despite chemo a few weeks ago it was 11000!  gingercat.

I don't know about the rest of you carers, but how do you let out a your all your pent up anger? I'm not a rich man but I have a hobby car an 8 year old Jaguar XK (it was designed by the same guy who designed the Aston Martin DB7, and well it looks like one). Its a 4.2 V8, had it worked over, lowered, body kit and a Bad Cat Developments exhaust. When I'm finishing a late shift at around 1am and theres little on the road... Well they she tops out at 155.... ? gingercat.
