Left hospital Thursday to be re-admitted in emergency Friday with severe hypocalceamia! My face and hands had 'locked' completely and it was a very scary experience! got intra veinous calcium injection, than on a drip for 24 hrs and now on calcium supplements as found out that the parathyroid glands were damaged during surgery - but one was was re-attached to the muscle and will hopefully start working again in a couple of months! Discharged from hospital this afternoon - my (ex?) boyfriend is kindly looking after me as my 13 year old doesn't want to see me.... can't handle my being poorly!!! I still ache all over following Friday's 'cramping' and my arms are a mess after all the blood tests etc. I have a question (nobody at the hospital could answer): since the surgery last Tuesday, everything I eat or drink tastes bitter. It's ok to start with but when it gets to the back of my tongue, it feels ever so bitter! nobody knows why - and nobody really cares either - but I've hardly eaten because everything tastes so disguting. Has anybody experienced the same or knows why? I am also really struggling to sleep - was given tablets in hospital but now that I'm home, I've nothing and although my body is tired, I feel very restless. It is now nearly 3 am and no sign of feeling sleepy! Any advice? Thank you.Love.Lauren
