secondary cancer

Less than one minute read time.

Hi

Can you get secondary cancer after having treatment for Breast Cancer a year ago. Had Chemo and Radiopheraphy then.  I have and aggresive type of cancer.

I have had some blood tests and they have come back abnormal and my doctor is sending me back the consultant.  I am now worried.

    Hey Candy,

The truth is as with any cancer there is always a risk of recurrence or secondaries its just the more time passes with no evidence of the disease the less likely it becomes.  I know how scared you must be but this abnormality could be something very simple like anaemia or an infection of some sort...not necessarily cancer. I wish you all the best and hope you get good results. We're always here for you xx

    Hi Candy,

Yes you can get secondary Cancer. But wait until it is confirmed by your consultant. So its a case of that terrible waiting game.

Take care and be safe Big Hugs Love Sarsfield.xx

Unfortunately that is the  nature of the disease we have. Within months of my treatment ending, even though I was taking femara, I developed secondary breast cancer. Do not worry until you get the results of tests. The dodgy results could be the results of lots of things. Hope it goes well for you

    Jazz xx

Hi Candy.  Were you told which of the blood tests were abnormal.  i.e abnormal liver function tests would suggest something different to abnormal results in a full blood count test, or a bone profile test.
