Cancer Story, It Gets Boring After 5 Years

It may be strange thing to say, but after surviving cancer for 5 years it all gets a bit boring (in the nicest possible way).

When I was 1st diagnosed with cancer in May/June 2018 I couldn't see much point in creating a blog.

Jump forward 8 months, when I was starting to feel a bit better I decided to write a blog about my cancer story which for a couple of years was quite exciting.

The longer it went on though, the less frequent my appointments, the less problems I was having and the better I got the less I wrote - it was becoming boring.

It got to the stage I was only adding a new post once a year and added what was probably my last post there this week to mark my 6 year anniversary of my 1st operation for jaw cancer

This got me thinking - I actually missed the 5 year anniversary of being told I was cancer free - the date a lot of people consider a milestone, looking back through my blog posts this would have been at the start of March 2019 making March 2024 the 5 year anniversary and I had bacome a 5 year survivor Slight smile

All of this has given me the inspiration to create this blog here

As a 5 year survivor it's also made me think I should do more, coming back to the MacMillan forums and I see the same contuibutors as when I 1st joined about 5 years ago making useful contributions and helping people just begining their cancer journey - why don't I do that.

The closest thing I have done is joined a lottery for Myton Hospice and never claimed any of my winnings, i really ougt to do more now I have more time on my hands.

Writing this blog will hopefully give be that kick up the backside to do more.
