We know that most people with cancer at the end of their life want to spend their last weeks and days at home, in a familiar place surrounded by loved ones. But right now, only 27% of people are able to do so. That’s why we’ve launched our latest campaign action asking the government in England to offer free social care to everyone at the end of life.
The government has said that it sees ‘much merit’ in making social care free for everybody at the end of their life. It is currently seeking views on the proposals made in the Care and Support White Paper and the draft Care and Support Bill. This should mean that there will eventually be a new law on social care.
We will be campaigning throughout this consultation process and beyond, to make sure that free social care at the end of life remains a priority and becomes a reality. Please join our campaign by signing our open letter to the Department of Health, and ask your friends to do the same.
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
