You may have seen in the news today our letter to the government about changes to the welfare system and how this will affect cancer patients. Our letter was signed by 29 other cancer charities too, who share our concerns.
Over the last few weeks we have been campaigning to put the fair into welfare. We asked campaigners to email their MPs with our concerns and to speak out against benefit cuts, for cancer patients, at the second reading of the Welfare Reform Bill. Amazingly, our campaigners have reached over 80% of all MPs, and we'd like to say a huge thank you to all of you who took part.
The Bill is in Parliament today, I will let you know what is said in the next few days. There will be another opportunity to campaign over the next few weeks as the Bill progresses through Parliament and amendments are made.
Let us know what you think of our letter and the Welfare Reform Bill.
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
