Meet the Macmillan Campaigns Team

1 minute read time.

Our social media intern helped me write my blog this week, so big thank you to Flavia.

Spreading the Christmas cheer, and as we have been blogging weekly on the Community, we would like you to meet us and know a bit more about what we do.

So what do we do?

We manage Macmillan’s public campaigns to influence policy and practice in cancer care. With the support of our campaigners across the country, we build awareness and engagement to improve the lives of people affected by cancer. “Campaigning is not often about quick wins but, by working together, we can make real improvements which is a great feeling!”, Lisa, Senior Campaigns Officer.

Currently, we are focusing on our General Election campaign, Cancer: Time to Choose. We are calling for free social care at the end of life, health services that protect the dignity of patients and earlier diagnosis and better support after treatment to improve outcomes. We want everyone to receive the best possible treatment and support, and ensure that cancer is an election priority.

Campaigns Team

Who are we?

We are a team of six ladies, Laura, Lisa, Mary Annabel, myself and Frances (who has joined our team this week). And we love Christmas. Everyone is full of festive cheer and it’s the perfect time of the year to go ice skating and spend time with family and friends. In my opinion it’s a time to eat my body weight in mince pies. Annabel, our Campaigns Assistant, likes “pigs in blankets”, and Lisa loves to wear a Christmas jumper.

Why Macmillan?

Working together is very important to achieve success in campaigning. That’s why I like to work at Macmillan, I get to work with an amazing team of campaigners. They have been incredibly supportive and friendly in my first few months. Lisa also enjoys “working with a group of really committed campaigners” at Macmillan.

What motivates Annabel is that whenever she tells anyone where she works, they always tell her a story of how Macmillan has helped someone. “It makes me feel warm and fuzzy and great about coming to work, even on a Monday morning”.
