Week starting 2/11/09

Less than one minute read time.

Got my seasonal flu jab on Monday.  Pretty uneventful, just a bit tired later on.  Government circular recommends getting swine flu jab too as high risk, but GP says no.  Another question for the consultant.

Still getting back pain.  Painkillers barely touch it.  Seeing the consultant about on Wednesday when I have the next chemo shot.  Hopefully it's just muscular and not a result of the melanoma spreading.  Fingers crossed.

Well, thats the chemo done for today.  No adverse effects, and have got some new painkillers to try.  The original Solpadol (containing codeine) seems to make me very drowsy if I take enough to numb the backache.  Consultant will take a close look and advise on back pain after CT scan.

    Feeling pretty good this morning.

So far the new painkillers ( Profen and Tramadol ) seem to be a big improvement over the Solpadol. Much clearer head now and don't keep nodding off so much.  They also deal with the back pain more effectively, so a worthwhile change.

Unfortunately Tramadol is another "avoid alcohol" job, so I still can't have a decent beer :o( Probably best for me in the long run though.
